Cochilo (meaning “nap”) is a service that opened in a São Paulo mall that offers shoppers access to a private room where they can take a short nap. Cochilo’s facilities include relaxing lighting and music, as well as a freshly made bed. Customers can choose nap durations of between 15 minutes and one hour.
During June 2012, the first 4D cinema in South America opened in São Paulo’s JK Iguatemi mall, offering viewers a sensory movie experience thanks to specially designed seats. Screenings are accompanied by motion, aromas, and water and wind machines; Prometheus and Ice Age 4 are two of the movies to have been shown using the technology. A ticket for the experience costs BRL 69 (approximately USD 33).
In July 2012, Brasilian supermarket chain Pao de Açúcar opened a virtual storefront in São Paulo, enabling consumers to purchase products using their smartphones. With a simple download of a Pao de Asucar app, consumers can scan QR codes next to grocery items on display to then purchase them before organizing delivery to their home within 48 hours.
