The 200th Plane Excitement
The 200th Plane Excitement
Pursuing its goal of having the youngest and most modern fleet in Europe, Turkish Airlines is bolstering that fleet with more new planes. The airline’s 200th aircraft took to the skies following the November 13 ceremony hosted by Board Chairman Hamdi Topçu and CEO Temel Kotil, Ph.D., and attended by Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. Pointing out that Turkish Airlines has met all its targets since 2003, the airline’s executives drew attention to its contributions to international aviation. In a talk he gave at the ceremony, Finance Minister Şimşek said that Turkish Airlines was the architect of this rapid growth and had generated enormous value added in the Turkish economy. Also speaking at the ceremony, the airline’s board chairman Hamdi Topçu said, “When we added our 100th plane, our target was 200 planes. Our goal now is to add a 300th plane to our fleet.”
