Delhi is capital of one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating
civilisations, where religious worship, ceremonies,
social life, dress and many other aspects of daily
life have in many ways remained unchanged over the
centuries.
India is the cradle of a civilisation suffused
with the influences of the Hindu religion. A mosaic
of peoples, languages, religions and cultures, this
is a country unlike any other in the world.
THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE: DELHI-AGRA-JAIPUR
One of the regions of India which attracts the most
visitors is the so-called Golden Triangle encompassing
the capital Delhi, Agra, home of the Taj Mahal,
and Jaipur, the Pink City. The region was ruled
by the Moguls from the 16th until the commencement
of British rule in the 1760s, and the most important
historical and cultural sights of the region date
from that period.
