Holding the Turkish records for 800 meters and 1500 meters
in her hand, Turkish sports hero Süreyya Ayhan continoues
to win new medals.
WHO IS SÜREYYA AYHAN?
Süreyya Ayhan was born in 1978 in Çankiri. She became
involved in athletics in 1992 at the Çankiri Athletics
Training Centre. She has worn the uniform of both
the MTA and Fenerbahçe sporting clubs, and is still
an athlete of the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.
She hold the Turkish records for 800 meters (2:00.64)
and 1500 meters (4:03.02). Yücel Kop is the trainer
of this young athlete and one who recognised her
unique talent.

Süreyya Ayhan ran in the 1500-metre semi-finals
at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, placed fifth in
the Golden League, placed second in the Balkan Championships,
and second in the Champion Clubs Championships.
