When the mother of Tuluyhan Ugurlu realised her little boy
was musically talented, she took him to see Cemal
Resit Rey in 1970. The great maestro played a piece
and asked the child to repeat it. As a result of this
incident it became clear that Tuluyhan Ugurlu was
specially gifted in music. Through the support of
the Gifted Children Law, Tuluyhan began studies at
the conservatory at the age of five.
During his career he has given up to 90 performances
in a single year, an achievement few could surpass.
His works composed in the Turkish classical music
style, include "Go With God", "Kutsal
Kitaptan Ayetler 1 (Verses From The Holy Book I)",
"Istanbul Kanatlarimin Altinda (Istanbul Under
My Wings)", "Kutsal Kitaptan Ayetler 2 (Verses
From The Holy Book 2)", "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
and the Soldiers of the Sun", "Tears of
the City", "My Father Was A Poet",
"Time in Beyazit" and Symphony Turk.
IT IS HARD TO BE A GIFTED CHILD
The most difficult aspect of being a gifted child
was having to practise piano while his other children
were playing in the park, Ugurlu explains.
