The past year has witnessed a significant and unanticipated development in airline transportation around the world and especially in Turkey. The steadily increasing demand for air travel in parallel with the rapid growth in the Turkish economy over the past two years and the development in trade and tourism especially, indicates that this demand is likely to be permanent. During the first half of this year, passenger traffic on Turkish Airlines was up by 20% over last year. And with more private airlines now flying to destinations in Turkey, the actual increase in the number of passengers choosing air travel is closer to 65%. As you know, we recently finalized an agreement to purchase 51 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft to meet this growing demand. We are fixed in our resolve by the fact that the potential offered by the air transport sector holds out great hopes for the future of Turkey.
