Istanbul On The Way To The Olympics!

Never has Istanbul been so close to the Olympics. A candidate for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Istanbul is more prepared and ambitious than ever.

All eyes are on the vote to be taken by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on September 7th in Buenos Aires. İstanbul is competing with Tokyo and Madrid to host the Games. And the city’s “Bridge Together” Olympics slogan lays emphasis on its unique location uniting continents and cultures.
Istanbul 2020 will leave a lasting legacy for the citizens of Istanbul and all those who visit this magnificent city. The redevelopment of Haydarpaşa port will provide 60 ha of public space along the Bosporus including a legacy entertainment and cultural centre integrated into the park lands.

Olympics On Two Continents

Suat Kılıç, Minister of Youth and Sports
Istanbul unites new and old, east and west, and is the only city promising an Olympics on two continents. Doing today on a global platform what we’ve been doing for centuries, we want to establish bridges and embrace the whole world. Istanbul is moving rapidly forward on its way to becoming an Olympic city.
