    The Tennis Season Opens

    HERALDING THE START OF THE SEASON, THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT TAKES PLACE IN MELBOURNE IN JANUARY.

    Known as the Asia Pacific’s Grand Slam, Australian Open this year is breaking a record with prize money of 30 million Australian dollars, the biggest in the history of cash-prize tennis. For 34 dollars, spectators will have access to all the outer courts and all the events in the tournament. Novak Djokovic was last year’s champion in the men’s, and Victoria Azarenka in the women’s, at the Australian Open, which is played on a plexicushion court surface. Stars of this court are three-time champion Djokovic and two-time winner Serena Williams.
