Fifth annual ‘Filmoctober’

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Art and Culture with sponsorship by Nokia Nseries, ‘Filmoctober’ is celebrating its 5th anniversary. Over the week, Filmoctober will show 20 noteworthy films of world cinema with a film gala every night. Venue for the programs is the Emek Cinema in Beyoğlu.
To be shown in the festival, which will take place 13-19 October, are eagerly awaited Turkish films due out this year, and selections and prize-winning films from those shown at the world’s leading festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Sundance. Among them are Ken Loach’s winner of the Golden Palm at Cannes, ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barley’, Tony Gatlif’s ‘Transylvania’, Richard Linklater’s ‘A Scanner Darkly’, Amos Giati’s ‘Free Zone’, Lian Lunson’s ‘Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man’, and Nanni Moretti’s ‘Il Caimano’.
