Sports whirlwind on the Black Sea

At the confluence of civilizations, religious beliefs and natural beauty, the Black Sea this summer is hosting a gargantuan international sporting event 2-8 July.

The 1st Black Sea Games have been organized to consolidate cooperation among the member countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in the sports arena as in other areas and to foster international friendship. Young athletes eighteen and under will compete in the games in branches of the Olympics sports, which are being held in Trabzon, Rize and Giresun. The 1st Black Sea Games, in which some 3000 people will take part including 2500 athletes from 12 countries, close to 500 technical personnel and administrator, are in the nature of a practice run for the European Youth Olympics to be held in Trabzon in 2011.
