Two exhibitions at Pera Museum

The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation’s Pera Museum is hosting two exhibitions, both of which shed light on the cultural history of Istanbul, capital of empires.

One of them, ‘From Theodoros Methokites to Thomas Whittemora - One Monument, Two Monumental Personalities: Kariye’, tells the story of the Kariye Mosque, one of the most impressive Byzantine monuments of present-day Istanbul. Accompanying this major exhibition is another, ‘Wall, Arch, Dome: Byzantine Istanbul In The Eyes Of Ottoman Photographers’, on the museum’s fifth floor and consisting of the works of Ottoman photographers. Both exhibitions run through 1 July.
