  • A play that rebels against oppression

A play entitled ‘The Tombs of Atuan’, adapted from a novel of the same name by Ursula Le Guin criticizing society’s rigid, rule-bound oppression of women, is being staged by ‘Oyuncular’ (Players) Theater Group at ENKA on 4, 5 and 6 June.

Set in an ancient necropolis representing all the value systems that stand in the way of women’s freedom, the play conveys a sense of bigotry and rigid traditions in an atmosphere of fantasy. Adapted for theater by the group’s founder, Selma Köksal, the play stars Efdal Gülbudak, Gülsüm Soyadan, Nurçin Karabıyık and Zaven Çiğdemoğlu.
