Kalev’s first feature-length film
Advertising and video clip director Kamen Kalev’s first feature-length film, ‘Eastern Plays’, premiered at Cannes last May. Among the cast of this film, which refers to actual incidents, are also some Turkish names.
Ordeal of the rag dolls
Released in the U.S. last September, ‘9’ narrates the struggle of nine rag dolls whose lives are lost when machines rise up and wipe out the human race. The film, in which the dolls’ voices are dubbed by famous actors like Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer and Jennifer Connelly, is already a candidate for becoming a new ‘steampunk’ classic.
Michelle Pfeiffer in “Chéri”
Adapted by screenwriter Christopher Hampton from Colette’s novel of the same name that takes place in the fashionable Belle Epoque, and directed by Stephen Frears, this film, set in Paris in the early 1900’s, tells the story of Léa, who takes her rival Charlotte’s son under her wing. The lovely Michelle Pfeiffer plays Léa.
Woody Allen’s latest
Woody Allen’s latest film ‘Whichever Works’ is among the season’s most eagerly awaited. Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood share the lead roles in this film in which Allen returns to the streets of New York after many years. Tipped to be his best in the last ten years, this comedy is another story of marriage and fate.
