Lord Of The Dance

Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as ‘a showpiece extravanganza’, ‘Lord of the Dance’ is going to be at Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park on June 11, 12 and 13.

The show, which combines classic stories of good and evil with the legends of Irish mythology, has been touring the world for 14 years. Michael Flatley is founding director of the show, which has grossed over 800 million dollars since it was first staged in 1996.

The story opens with the Little Spirit setting out on a journey through time to help the Lord of the Dance protect the people from the evil machinations of the dark lord ‘Don Dorcha’. The battle lines are drawn and the adventure continues as the powers of darkness mount a challenge to our hero, drawing spectators into a mythical world.

Based on the traditional forms of Irish folklore, the 21-scene show is also remarkable for its colorful costumes. From the     minute the lights go down right up to the final scene the more than 40 dancers are never still for an instant. Indeed the dance team executes around 151,200 tap dance steps in a single performance.
