The Countdown Has Begun

The countdown has begun for the International Istanbul Film Festival, being held this year for the 29th time.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation of Culture and sponsored by Akbank, the 29th International Istanbul Film Festival will bring viewers some 200 films from April 3 to 18. Featured on the festival program are not only the outstanding productions of 2009 and 2010 but also masterpieces by the top directors, unforgettable classics and films that have garnered awards in world festivals.
Fashion designer Tom Ford’s first film, ‘A Single Man’, adapted from the novel by Christopher Isherwood, and Canadian director Atom Egoyan’s latest film, ‘Chloe’, a throwback to the Hitchcock thrillers, are among the festival’s most eagerly awaited offerings. Other festival attractions include Nora Ephron’s entertaining ‘Julie & Julia’, Richard Linklater’s latest film, ‘Me and Orson Welles’ and Joel and Ethan Coen’s latest, ‘A Serious Man’.

Based on the slogan, ‘30-Second Interval’, Akbank’s 6th Short Film Festival begins on March 1. The festival, which has received applications for 396 films, is bringing film buffs 98 films from 24 different countries. Akbank Sanat is the venue for the festival, and all events are free of charge.
