A Concert For Film Buffs

Are you one of those who can’t forget ‘When Harry Met Sally’? If so, then stay in Istanbul and stick with us. Especially when the calendar rolls around to May 18...

A singer who has followed in the footsteps of crooners like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jr. is meeting his Istanbul fans for the first time the evening of May 18. The New Orleans-born artist, who not only sings but can also play the piano and act, has actually been around for a while after reaching millions with his rendition of ‘It Had To Be You’ on the soundtrack of the romantic comedy, ‘When Harry Met Sally’, starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.

Connick, whose association with the big screen is not confined to music, earned top marks from the critics for his role in ‘Copycat’ (1995), in which he shared the lead with Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver. Connick also co-starred with Sandra Bullock in ‘Hope Floats’, with Ashley Judd in ‘Bug’, with Hillary Swank and Gerald Butler in ‘PS I Love You’, and with Renée Zellweger in ‘New in Town’.

Recently the singer released an album of new arrangements of old songs titled ‘Your Songs’, which has attracted the interest not only of Harry Connick Jr. fans but also of music lovers who enjoy easy listening.  And the concert on May 18 looks like being more of the same…

Sponsored by ING Bank, the Harry Connick Jr. concert is at Istanbul Conference Center in Harbiye on the evening of May 18.
