Seventeen So Far...
17-TIME WINNER OF THE MUSIC WORLD’S PRESTIGIOUS GRAMMY AWARD, PAT METHENY IS BACK IN ISTANBUL AFTER A HIATUS OF SEVEN YEARS.
If you like jazz, then be at Cemal Reşit Rey on December 1. One of the most important musicians in jazz history, Pat Metheny started his musical career at the age of eight. First appearing on the international stage in 1974, he combined modern and traditional forms of jazz to create his own unique sound. Metheny, who recently released a solo album, What’s It All About, is appearing to Istanbul music lovers on his 42-string Pikasso with Larry Grenadier and Bill Stewart. Known for his successful improvising in live performance, Metheny is not to be missed if you haven’t heard him before. And even if you have, you’ll feel you’re hearing many of the songs for the first time at Metheny’s concert.
A RECORD HOLDER
Metheny broke a record by winning seven Grammies back to back for albums like Offtramp, Travers and First Circle, which he recorded with a group he formed with pianist Lyle Mays.
