FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY SUMMIT
The logo for the events held throughout 2011 to honor the 50th anniversary of the guest worker agreement signed between Turkey and Germany was determined in a contest held in February by the Turkish Prime Ministry’s Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities. The Prime Ministry, which staged several events in Turkey and Germany, also lent its support to some events put on by public agencies as well as NGO’s. Two major events were staged in Berlin on October 31, the actual anniversary of the guest worker treaty, and migration in all its aspects is being taken up at an international migration symposium on November 1 and 2. Following a gala evening on November 1 with the participation of Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Prime Minister will meet with German Prime Minister Angela Merkel in Berlin.
