No Empty Stages Here

Istanbul’s stages continue to welcome world stars of every stripe. Starting in september with big names like Ian Anderson, Leonard Cohen and Rd Hot Chili Peppers, the pace continues in november.

ALL OVER AGAIN: W.A.S.P.
Thirty-year American heavy metal legend W.A.S.P. will be galvanizing Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park on November 25. The band, which has performed in Istanbul several times before, is coming to heavy metal fans this time as part of their 30 Years of Thunder tour.

ZAPPA’S APPRENTICE: VAI
Steve Vai, who is performing at Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park on November 2, started playing with the legendary Frank Zappa when he was only 18. Perhaps the main thing that distinguishes guitar virtuoso Vai from his contemporaries is that he learned from a guitarist like Zappa, who is a master of his instrument as well as devotee of the avantgarde.

40 YEAR ROCKERS: THIN LIZZY
With 43 years in the business, Thin Lizzy is another guest of Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park this month. Legendary blues guitarist Gary Moore is also taking his place among the former members of Thin Lizzy. The concert by this group, inspiration for numerous leading rock bands up to now, is on November 11.

LEAD BASSIST: STING
Ataköy Track and Field Hall is hosting Sting on November 26. Sting is one of those rare musicians who has preserved his quintessential style in every album he has made during his career yet managed never to be boring. His mastery of his primary instrument, the bass guitar, is just one of the things that makes him different along with his voice, his lyrics and his music.
