Classical Music On The Golden Horn

The world’s top symphony orchestras continue to visit to Istanbul.

Istanbul continues to be one of the world’s lead players on the classical music scene as the world’s top artists and symphony orchestras come together with Turkish music lovers, sponsored by the Istanbul Foundation for Arts and Culture. This time it’s the New York Philharmonic that will be at the Golden Horn Congress Center on May 3 and 4 with classical music superstar Joshua Bell and Emanuel Ax, one of the world’s most celebrated pianists. The orchestra, under the baton of Conductor Alan Gilbert, will play Christopher Rouse’s new symphony, Prospero’s Rooms, Leonard Bernstein’s Serenade with Joshua Bell as violin soloist, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 the first evening. The second evening’s program features Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 in C major, the “Linz”,  as well as his Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major with Emanuel Ax as soloist, closing with Mussorgsky’s Pictures from An Exhibition.
