‘Respect for Humans’ award goes to Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines walked away with the ‘Respect for Humans’ award within the Transportation Category, given by Kariyer.Net at the recent ‘Human Resources Summit’ held 13-14 February at Istanbul’s Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center.
All firms competing for the ‘Respect for Humans’ Awards, offered this year for the sixth time by Kariyer.Net, were accessed in terms of the number of job applications they received and responded to in 2006. Accepting the award on behalf of Turkish Airlines, Executive Vice-President for Human Resources Orhan İkiz said that all job applications were carefully evaluated according to the published criteria. He added that responding to applications, informing applicants at every step, and being in continuous communication were regarded as a reflection of a firm’s institutional culture.
Turkish Airlines’ CEO Temel Kotil, Ph.D. expressed his delight at seeing the airline’s human resource policies, to which it gives such importance, rewarded in this way. “Turkish Airlines is one of the most popular employers in Turkey. We regard our employees and prospective employees as the ‘communications ambassadors’ of Turkish Airlines. Giving equal opportunity to prospective employees and keeping them informed at every phase of the application process is important to us. We realize that it is our employees who are going to take us forward. I believe this award is a sign that we are moving ahead on the right path in the area of human resources.”
