Turkish Airlines at Izmir’s Travel Turkey Fair

Turkish Airlines is supporting Izmir’s Travel Turkey Fair. Approximately 185 firms took part in Izmir’s Travel Turkey Fair, which was realized with the cooperation of İZFAŞ and Hannover Messe International and with the support of the Association of Travel Agents of Turkey (TURSAB) on 13-16 December.

The fair opening was attended by Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay, the Economy and Tourism Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Erdoğan Şanlı, the Mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Aziz Kocaoğlu, TURSAB Chairman Başaran Ulusoy, the Chairman of the Travel and Agents Association of  Greece, Yannis Evangelou, KITSAB Chairman Özbek Dedekorkut, and the Director of TAV Izmir, Ömer Vanlı. Firms from Syria, Malaysia, the Maldives, South Africa, Tunisia, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were promoted at the fair, where Greece was the partner country and Şanlıurfa the guest province. Close to a hundred tourism buyers were reported to have taken part in the fair as part of the Hosted Buyer Program put together in cooperation with TURSAB and with Turkish Airlines’ support. This year’s program also encompassed Greece, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Lebanon, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Turkmenistan and the United States. Supporting Turkish culture and tourism as always through its mission and vision, Turkish Airlines was represented by a 50-square-meter stand and distributed a variety of gifts to fair visitors.

Opening the fair, Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay explained that its purpose was to place Turkey among the top five countries in world tourism in the next five years and to do this not through mass tourism but through cultural tourism. Günay added that Izmir was going to be made a center of cultural tourism and that they were going to provide the necessary support for this during and following Izmir EXPO 2015, to be held in March.
