The Golden Cocoon begins

The Golden Cocoon Film Festival, being held this year for the 15th time from June 2 to 8, aims to bring cinema lovers short and full-length feature films as well as documentaries produced in Turkey and the world.

With corporate sponsorship by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and principal sponsorship by Turkish Airlines, this year’s festival is showing a total of 195 films in 13 categories. All the films are free of charge at the festival, which this year as every year also includes a National Feature Film Contest in which the latest Turkish films will compete for the Golden Cocoon. This year’s festival is also hosting foreign directors from the Mediterranean countries, and the ‘Mediterranean Countries’ International Short Film Contest', being held this year for the first time, is going to bring together a large number of films from Turkey and abroad. Three exhibitions are also being mounted as part of the festival: an exhibition of photographs from Yılmaz Günay’s film, ‘Yol', in the foyer of the Metropolitan Municipal Theater, Ercan Arslan’s exhibition titled ‘Portraits from Turkish Cinema’ at the Adana Art and Culture Center, and the ‘14th Golden Cocoon Cinema Photographs Exhibition’ at the Adana Amateur Photographers’ Association in the Cinebonus Hall.
