TRT to broadcast in 30 languages

TRT, the Turkish State Radio and Television, has reconstructed its website and is aiming to reach the whole world in the virtual medium through broadcasts in 30 languages. Launched on on 21 November, reflects breaking news developments as well as news of interest to the broadcast regions reported in their own language.

The site is a quick, reliable and original source of news and information in the Albanian, Arabic, Azerbaijan Turkish, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Dari, English, French, German, Georgian, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Macedonian, Pashtu, Persian, Rumanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Tatar, Turcoman, Turkish, Uighur, Urdu and Uzbek languages.  In addition to TRT's enriched internet RSS Feeds and PODCASTs, it also has live images and sound content available only on the internet. News is continuously updated on the site, where TRT broadcasts can be watched on-line.
One of the biggest surprises of the TRT website broadcasting in thirty different languages in more than fifty countries is that The Voice of Turkey Radio (VOT) can also be heard on these sites. A Chinese person, for example, while reading news about his own country in his own language, can also listen to broadcasts in Chinese by connecting to The Voice of Turkey Radio over the website.

Exploiting new media possibilities
The new TRT website brings users the possibility of watching and listening to the broadcast they want when they want through the podcast system, thanks to which 15,000 videos are available simultaneously.
Users can find the latest news, images, photographs and commentaries on the News Portal. They also have instant access to the hottest developments in Turkey and the world on 'The Agenda', while 'Point of View' offers a different outlook in commentaries on the news. This portal also includes a survey section.
On the Finance Portal users can find developments in the Turkish and world economies, and the latest developments in the markets as well as data from the Istanbul Stock Exchange, the exchange rates, details about the bond and securities markets and the latest oil prices. The Sports Portal gives super league scores and detailed news about the European leagues and cups as well as other branches of sport.

Speaking at a meeting to promote the new website, at which Minister of State Mehmet Aydın was also present, TRT President İbrahim Şahin said that it was one of only five in the world broadcasting in 30 different languages.
