European Union Initiative

The Secretariat-General for EU Affairs (EUSG) and Turkish Airlines have launched a new project for the purpose of informing both Turkish and European public opinion during the EU accession process.

As part of the project passengers on Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet flights will be given brochures compiled by the European Union Secretariat-General. In an announcement he made on the subject, Turkish Airlines’ Chairman of the Board and of the Executive Committee Hamdi Topçu said, “As a global trademark, we at Turkish Airlines want to be a partner and a carrier on Turkey’s European Union journey.”

Meanwhile, State Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış highlighted the importance of the undertaking by saying, “We aim to objectively inform the public of Turkey and Europe, to create a good understanding of the EU process, and to show the Turkish public what European Union membership will bring us while showing the EU Turkey’s key role in reaching a stronger, more secure, and more stable future.”

Through this collaboration, the EUSG’s publications will be made available in forty-one cities domestically, sixty-nine locations in Europe, and forty-four other destinations that Europeans and Turks travel to in the Far East, Middle East, and Africa.
