Ulaanbaatar, First Stop In Mongolia

Turkish Airlines made its first flight to the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator on July 2.Attending the ceremony for the opening of the new route was a delegation made up of Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Turkish Airlines’ Board Chairman and Executive Committee Chairman Hamdi Topçu and Board Member İsmail Gerçek, as well as various members of parliament, bureaucrats and former government ministers.Later the group paid a visit to the museum built by the government of the Republic of Turkey to protect the Orhon Inscriptions, which are on display there. Made via Bishkek, the Istanbul-Ulan Bator-Istanbul flights are three days a week at present, from Istanbul on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from Ulan Bator on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Turkish Airlines’ Board Chairman and Executive Committee Chairman Hamdi Topçu pointed out that due to intense demand the flights are expected to be increased to 7 days a week when the requisite permits are issued. He added that the Ulan Bator route forms a strong bridge between the two countries.
