Welcome Aboard

Dear guests, I would like to share with you the innovations that will go into effect when we go over to our winter timetable on 28 October.

One important innovation is that we resumed our flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town on 17 September. With the addition of these routes, we have brought the number of countries to which we fly up to 69 and our total destinations to 106. These two distant yet important cities of South Africa are now much closer to you. We are proud and pleased to contribute our share to the development of economic and social relations between our two countries. Due to intensive demand, our flights to Eskişehir which we introduced this year have been increased from three to five days a week. I would like to share with you as well that very soon we are also going to start flying to Sivas from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. In addition, we continue to fly to Germany from Ankara, Adana, Kayseri, Izmir and Trabzon, and those flights have also been increased in frequency due to demand.

As we shared with you earlier, 2008 is going to be an important year for the aviation sector; first of all, the annual meeting of IATA, one of the biggest organizations in our sector, is going to be held in Istanbul this year. Prior to it, the 14th International Aviation Symposium, hosted by Turkish Airlines and Ohio State University, also took place in Istanbul on 17-18 September. Discussion at the meeting focused on 'the future of aviation' and 'strategic risk management in turbulent times'. All possible risks that could affect world aviation in a global sense, experience gained, developing technology, precautions for the future and other views were shared and assessed with a view to putting them into practice. Enjoying the great happiness of completing the intensive summer season by carrying even more passengers without compromising its quality, Turkish Airlines increased the number of passengers it carried by 16.6% to 13 million between January and August. As we try to re-unite you with your loved ones in comfort and tranquility, at the same time we are pursuing our efforts to enable you to fly at more favorable prices. To this end we have revolutionized our website, www.thy.com, which has served you since 1996. In addition to reservations, e-tickets, online check-in, and other information, in another Turkish Airlines' 'first' you can now also use our 'flexible fare viewing system'.

This system, which initially will go into effect for international flights, makes it quicker and easier for you to check seat availability and fares. Using the new system, passengers can shift their travel one day forward or back to take advantage of more favorable fares. The system offer passengers speed, convenience and a variety of alternatives.

I would like to close by extending to all of you my most sincere wishes for a Happy Ramazan Bayram, a Happy Republic Day on 29 October, and a pleasant flight.
