Welcome Aboard

Dear Guest, I salute you with the pleasure and honor brought by your choice of traveling with Turkish Airlines, and I wish you a pleasant journey.

Without a doubt, air travel has a significant stake in the idea that the world is getting smaller; indeed, the globe continues to shrink as airlines expand their operations. In spite of the global economic crisis which deeply affected the fortunes of several respected airline companies over the past year, Turkish Airlines continued to build on its reputation of dependable growth and innovation.

As a result of expanding of our fleet and routes, as well as improvements in hospitality and service; Turkish Airlines was named “Best Airline of Southern Europe” in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2009 survey of over 15.4 million passengers from 95 countries.

We continued to grow in September with the new additions of  Jakarta (Indonesia) and Izmir-Athens routes. We have also begun First Class service on our flights to New York. In November, we will start serving international destinations at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Today, Turkish Airlines offers flights to 155 world-class destinations with its fleet of 126 aircraft.

We are also pleased to report that Turkish Airlines Technic, one of the most important subsidiaries of Turkish Airlines, is showing rapid progress toward its development strategy. In line with its duties as primary provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul operations to the fleets of Turkish Airlines and other companies, Turkish Airlines Technic is leading development on the HABOM (Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center) project, which is expected to be a major contribution to the maintenance sector in Turkey.

The maintenance facilities are slated to occupy an area of 364,000 sq. meters at Sabiha Gökçen airport, with plans for two hangars, component maintenance workshops, social services facilities, administrative buildings, and supporting units; providing
world-class services to our international customers and adding value to the Turkish economy.

Turkish Airlines is proud to greet the upcoming Day of the Republic this 29 October as the internationally renowned flag carrier of its nation and strives along the path laid out in the words of Ataturk: “The future is in the skies”.

I thank you for choosing Turkish Airlines and wish you a pleasant flight.

Sincerely yours,
Temel Kotil, Ph.D.
