Microrobots are going to Change our Lives

MICRO ROBOTS ARE TOO SMALL TO BE SEEN BY THE NAKED EYE, BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN’T DO.

You’ve locked the door of your apartment and are in the car. Now all you have to do is touch a tiny area on an illuminated screen to send the Micro Robot Center a ‘house ready’ signal from the control panel of your mobile. First, tiny lids open on a wafer-thin, hexagonal metallic box in your kitchen. Emitting a buzzing sound like a faulty smoke alarm, they release a swarm of tiny robots that spread quickly around your kitchen. From floor to countertop, from table to hard-to- reach corners, micro robots begin digesting all the accumulated residues - bread crumbs, food waste, droplets of oil - using special nano gizmos for cutting, grinding and breaking up particles. In just under three hours, the micro robots clean your entire kitchen. Slow but flawless, this micro level cleaning will be finished long before you get home, and your micro cleaners have returned to their beds.

PERFECT CLEANERS

Unlike micro kitchen robots, micro vacuum cleaners are designed to clean up not food waste but dust and other forms of dirt. Able to penetrate and clean crevices in your house that you will never be able to see, micro vacuum cleaners are slightly bigger than kitchen robots because they have to clean more extensive areas. At the same time, micro vacuum cleaners not only have special nano parts for carpets and textile surfaces, they also have micro cleaning liquids mounted on their backs which they use to polish wood and metal surfaces to a spotless sheen. Even though their work may take a little longer, you can be sure they will back in their beds long before you get home.

LEAVE YOUR BEDROOM A MESS

If you think you’re going to need a bigger robot to make your bed then think again, because this time our micro robots are even smaller.
Nano-size robots are injected right into the fabric of your sheets, pillowcases and bedspread. At a signal from the control center, millions of these ‘nanobots’ go into action, smoothing your sheets and plumping your pillows, just like intelligent living creatures.
What’s more, there’s no need to air your room since the robots will do it for you. Don’t worry about laundering your sheets either, because these robots are not affected by water or detergents. In fact, your washing machine’s agitate cycle is what enables the nanobots to recharge.
Keep in mind however that these technologies, which seem to have popped out of a scene from a science fiction movie, are sheer fantasy for now. Nevertheless, scientists around the world are working night and day to make sure they become part and parcel of our lives over the next fifty years.

HOW ARE MICRO ROBOTS GOING TO BE PRODUCED?

The most efficient way of producing a micro robot is to use another micro robot. How to get started, you ask? Following years of work by numerous scientists, it is finally possible to build and produce parts at the micro level.  The obstacle here is that turning these production methods into a rapid, assembly-line process is going to take time. Another problem with micro robots is how to supply the power source they require. Current efforts are aimed at using the very low-frequency vibrations that exist naturally in the environment to charge the micro batteries.
