From The Editor

Dear readers,

You are now holding in your hands a brand-new Skylife. Celebrating its thirtieth anniversary as Turkish Airlines celebrates its eightieth anniversary this May, our magazine will be coming to you with its new design and treats as of this month.

One could consider the state of our magazine today from two perspectives. Design is the main axis of the transformation. In becoming a publication with modern features, Skylife, which has a deep-rooted history, maintains its essential values—and we say it is becoming one because change is a constant, unending process. We view our new format as a fresh start and aim to provide a pleasant road companion to you with new treats and improvements every month.

We realized this transformation in cooperation with The Design Surgery, one of the UK’s expert agencies in next-generation design. In this transformation, we tried to interpret the essential cultural values of our land through modern features and produce a straightforward yet chic synthesis. We fitted a modern grid-based design with powerful navigation and developed improvements to the content and graphics to make it easier to follow the material. We have positioned many components from visuals to illustrations to maximum effect. Presentationwise, the outcome is a pleasant and colorful yet sophisticated format.

We have put together some important treats along the axis of content, too. The portfolio section, which employs a visual-heavy narrative with comparatively less text, is sure to delight you. Additionally, we have produced a new section in cooperation with the Turkish edition of Harvard Business Review, which is indubitably the world’s most influential publication in the field of management. We believe it will be a very satisfying section for everyone involved with business and management. Our charts section, through which we provide a visualization of Turkish Airlines’ development, is sure to attract your interest as well.

We would like to note that the process that begins with this issue is just a start and that we will have new treats for you in our future issues. We offer you our thanks for the support you have given and the kindness you have shown to Skylife.

Yours sincerely,
Serdar Turan Editorial Coordinator
