Remembering Atatürk
Seventy-four years ago we saw Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the architect of the modern Turkey. It’s been 74 years since we saw him off on his fınal journey.
The architect of Turkey’s War of Liberation and the Republic that followed, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk summed up his true legacy and mission before departing this world on November 10, 1938, when he said, “My poor body will of course return to dust one day, but the Republic of Turkey will endure forever.” And every November 10th we should remember once again not the death but the achievements of Ataturk, our common founder who introduced the concept of the republic in this land.
Every year on November 10th, more than Ataturk’s death, we must speak of, and strive to understand, his achievements and values that made this country a nation, and do our best to pass the torch to furure generations.
