Excess baggage charges for flights to and from Ercan are 2 TL/kg for armed forces personnel and students, 4 TL/kg for adults, children and infants. -

Example: In a flight from Rome, in Zone 2, to Medina, in Zone 4, 1 kg of excess baggage is calculated as follows: "Zone 2 - Turkey: 5 Euro" + "Zone 4 - Turkey: 10 Euro" = 15 Euro.Kilogramme rates are valid for flights taking place between December 1, 2009 and April 30, 2013.
To calculate excess baggage charges the Zone in which the points of departure and arrival are situated must be determined.
MSC (Most Significant Carrier)
If another airline is involved in your whole journey; the most significant carrier’s (MSC) free baggage allowance rule will be applied. MSC is assigned according to which airline operates the most significant and/or longest part of the journey.
If Turkish Airline is MSC in your journey then Turkish Airline’s free baggage allowance will apply, if another airline is MSC in your journey than the free baggage allowance of that airline will apply.
Please pay attention that the free baggage allowance is shown on your ticket.

Excess Baggage Charges and Conditions for Flights To - From America / S. America / Argentina / Nigeria / Ghana / Senegal/ Cote D Ivoire / Mauritania / Cameroon / Burkina Faso / Niger/ Congo Dem. Rep./ Gabon.
In flights to or from any point in America, S. America, Canada, Argentina, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Mauritania, Cote D Ivoire, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Niger, Congo Dem. Rep., Gabon excess baggage charges are calculated for each piece of baggage.
Calculation of Excess Baggage Charge Per Piece:
- Use Table 1 to determine the zone of the airport that processes excess baggage by piece.
- Use Table 4 to determine the zone of the other airport.
- The charge stated in the cell of Table 2 where the two converge represents the charge per excess baggage piece.
Calculation of excess baggage charges for connecting flights in stopover journeys:
- The excess baggage charge for the flight between the points of departure and arrival of the first segment of the journey are calculated as above.
- Because all Turkish Airlines stopover flights stopover in Turkey, the zone of the final point of arrival may be determined directly by using Table 4.
- The charge stated in the cell in Table 3 where the zones of the points of departure and arrival converge represents the additional excess baggage charge necessitated by the stopover.

Economy passengers with excess baggage travelling through airports processing baggage by piece and where the free baggage limit is 23 kg will be subject to an 80 USD baggage surcharge per baggage piece weighing 23-32 kg.In journeys involving more than one airline where Turkish Airlines has been designated Most Significant Carrier and excess baggage processed by piece is to be transported the amount specified between Piece Zone 2 and the Zones is required as an excess baggage charge.

Examples for airports processing baggage by piece:
In a direct flight (without stopover) between airports in Piece Zone 1 and France, because France is located in Zone 3, according to Table 1 the excess baggage charge between Piece Zone 1 and Zone 3 is 165 USD, to be paid at the point of departure.
In a direct flight (without stopover) from Johannesburg to airports in Piece Zone 1, because Johannesburg is located in Zone 5, according to Table 1 the excess baggage charge between Piece Zone 1 and Zone 5 is 210 USD, to be paid at the point of departure.
In a New York-Istanbul-Antalya journey, because one of the airports is located in the USA and a stopover is made in Istanbul, according to Table 1 the charge for the first segment of the journey from New York, which is in Piece Zone 1, to Turkey is 150 USD. For the Istanbul-Antalya segment according to Table 3, each piece incurs an additional charge of 10 USD calculated in Istanbul. The total amount payable is 160 USD.
In a Ankara-İstanbul-Los Angeles journey, because a stopover is made in Istanbul the charge for the Ankara-Istanbul segment according to Table 2 is 10 USD and an additional 150 USD is payable for the Istanbul-Los Angeles segment.
In an Izmir-Istanbul-Chicago-Antalya journey, where a stopover will be made in Istanbul and the connecting flight from Chicago to Antalya is to be provided by another airline, in line with Most Significant Carrier and US DOT rules the rules of the airline selling the ticket shall be applied. If Turkish Airlines is the carrier selling the ticket for the above flight, according to Table 2 the excess baggage charge payable for the Izmir-Istanbul segment is 10 USD, and according to Table 2 the amount payable for the Istanbul-Antalya segment between Piece Zone 2 and Turkey is 195 USD.
In a Chicago-Adana-Tel Aviv-New York journey where Adana is the first stopover, according to Table 1 the amount payable for the Chicago-Adana segment between Piece Zone 1 and Turkey is 150 USD per piece of excess baggage; in the Adana-Tel Aviv segment, because Tel Aviv is located in Zone 2, according to Table 2 the amount payable between Turkey and Zone 2 is 45 USD; and finally in the Tel Aviv-Chicago segment which is a direct flight the transfer passenger must pay 160 USD for excess baggage between Tel Aviv, which is in Zone 2, and New York, which is in Piece Zone 1, according to Table 1. To summarise; Chicago - Adana: 150 USD / Adana - Tel Aviv: 45 USD / Tel Aviv - New York: 160 USD.
