Turkish Airlines has signed a new code share agreement with Malaysia Airlines today as part of an expansion program...
Turkish Airlines’ passengers traveling between Istanbul and Far East Asia will have a choice of taking more flights every week according to this new code share agreement which will go into effect on July 1, 2009.
As an outcome of the new code share agreement signed between Turkish Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, passengers from Kuala Lumpur will be able to connect on Turkish Airlines’ network to any of its 115 international destinations including routes to Turkey, Europe, North America, South America, Russia, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Passengers from Istanbul will also be able to enjoy the convenience of Malaysia Airlines’ wide network of connections to Malaysia, and other popular destinations in the Asia Pacific. Malaysia Airlines’ network covers 88 international destinations.
The signing ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur today, signified the forging of a closer relationship between the two airlines.
“We are delighted to conclude a code-share arrangement with Malaysia Airlines. This is a testament to the growing relationship between Turkish Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, our new partner. We will make every effort to maximize the opportunities offered by our combined network. More importantly, customers are the ultimate winners, as they benefit from the extensive networks of both airlines linking both the two hubs, Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur, and beyond,” said Mr. Temel KOTIL Ph.D, CEO and Board Member of Turkish Airlines.
Mr. Idris JALA, CEO of Malaysia Airlines, said “We are pleased to partner with Turkish Airlines to provide our passengers with convenient and seamless services. In addition, with the strong feeder traffic from Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States and North Africa into Istanbul, we can expect robust passenger and revenue growth.”
The two airlines are also working out an arrangement for a reciprocal frequent flyer program between Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich and Turkish Airlines’ Miles and Smiles.
