Turkish Airlines recorded 164 million TRY net profit in the first half year of 2012.

Turkish Airlines’ 1H 2012 consolidated financial statements were reported to Istanbul Stock Exchange. Compared to the same period of 2011, sales revenue increased by 36%, reaching to 6,7 billion TRY. Net profit increased by %142 to 164 million TRY.
Turkish Airlines achieved stronger first and second quarter results, compared to the same periods of last year. Despite the reported loss due to seasonal factors in the first quarter of the year, with the help of strong performance in the second quarter, Turkish Airlines posted profit in the first half of the year. Having net operating profit of 271 million TRY in the second quarter, Turkish Airlines posted 52 million TRY net operating profit for the first half of 2012.
Looking through the traffic results, Turkish Airlines carried total of 18 million passengers with an increase of 20%. Available Seat Km (ASK) and Revenue Per Km (RPK) went up by 19% and 24%, respectively. Passenger Load Factor was 5,7 points up to 75,2%. Int’l to Int’l transfer passengers’ share in total Int’l passengers increased 4 points, reaching to 39%. According to the statistics published by International Air Transport Association (IATA), global aviation sector posted passenger, ASK and RPK growth of approximately 7%, 6,5% and 4,7% respectively.
In the first half year of 2012, total number of international destinations went up to 157, with addition of 8 new destinations to network. By increase of 19 aircrafts during the first half of the year, Turkish Airlines fleet reached to 194 aircraft in total, out of which were 151 narrow body, 37 wide body and 6 cargo.
As like the year 2011, being selected by Skytrax as the "Best Airline in Europe" in 2012, Turkish Airlines continues to maintain its successful performance with its strong financial structure and high quality service concept.
