Introduction
WELCOME ABOARD
Dear Guests, As an airline that places supreme importance on flight safety and security, we are proud to have been the chief sponsor of the IATA Safety Seminar that was held in September.
As Turkey’s first member, since 1956, of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), our Company places high importance on IATA’s safety standards and takes its responsibility in this area very seriously. With the fastest growing fleet in its region, Turkish Airlines has successfully passed all the inspections required for implementing international regulations and, in particular, the directives issued by the Joint Aviation Authorities (European), or JAA. With a powerful, world-recognized technical infrastructure, Turkish Airlines also provides technical maintenance services to several domestic and foreign airlines, and the insurance companies attest to its success in the area of flight safety and security.
We are aware that some of our passengers had complaints regarding delays during the recent summer season. We would therefore like to assure you that we at Turkish Airlines have been striving recently to overcome these problems and that it is one of our primary targets to reduce such delays to a minimum in the near future. Statistics show that there has been a significant increase in airline delays not only in Turkey but all over the world this year.
One of the main reasons for this is that the dense traffic that is developing at all of Europe’s major airports is being experienced at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport as well. Problems arising from increased air passenger demand in recent years, together with stepped up security measures and ground services, especially after 9/11, are also responsible for a growing number of delays. I believe, however, that with the new planes that are joining our fleet in October we are not only going to reduce problems in this area, but that we are also going to offer you the very best service available.
Proud of having been the first airline to fly to the Central Asian republics, Turkish Airlines forms an important bridge between the cities of that region and the four corners of the world. We are now adding the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, to our flight network. We believe that these flights, which are scheduled to begin on
19 October, will contribute to further strengthening cultural and commercial ties between our two countries.
Hand in hand with all our personnel, we are working hard to enhance your security, safety and comfort and to offer you a very convenient flight network.
I thank you for the confidence you have shown in Turkish Airlines and wish you all a pleasant flight.
