From Venice to Istanbul
The Istanbul Modern Museum is bringing a selection of works from the 51st International Venice Biennale to Istanbul in its second international exhibition, ‘Venice-Istanbul’, thus bringing to Turkey for the first time in its 110-year history this event, which sets the standards of the art world.
The exhibition of works selected by joint curator of the Biennale and chief curator of Istanbul Modern, Rosa Martinez, bears not only vestiges of the past but also the seeds of the future. The ‘Venice-Istanbul’ exhibition, which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the commencement of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Italy and the declaration of Venice and Istanbul as sister cities, runs from 18 October through 28 January.
