‘Alem’ exhibition in Munich
Munich’s State Museum of Ethnology is hosting an exhibition of painting and ceramic studies by Turkish painter and ceramicist Prof. Dr. Jale Yılmabaşar.
Mounted with the backing of Turkish Airlines in a cooperation with the Turkish Consulate in Munich, the exhibition will run through 10 February 2008. Yılmabaşar thrusts the concept of the ‘Alem’ or Universe, one of the most potent symbols of Islam, into the foreground in her works exhibited here. Jale Yılmabaşar, who is holding her 18th solo exhibition of abstract symbolic works that set up a clearly delineated relationship with the traditional cultural legacy of Anatolia, was awarded the title of ‘State Artist’ in 1998. www.voelkerkundmuseum-muenchen.de
