23 million passengers a year targeted
Turkish Airlines’ consolidated financial results for 2006 have been posted on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
The Airline’s Net Profit in 2006 was up by 28% on the previous year to US$ 132 million. Basic Operating Revenues were up as well by 22% to US$ 2,832 million (TL 4,049 million). In a growth of 58%, Turkish Airlines also increased the number of its planes, which was 65 at the end of 2003, to 103 as well as making significant investments to meet rising passenger demand, all the while continuing to implement cost-saving measures. Airline President Temel Kotil said that its target this year was to transport 23 million passengers, an increase of six million over the 17 million it carried in 2006.
