November concerts
The Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra is bringing music lovers a program chock full of good things in November.
On 4 and 9 November there will be an ‘Atatürk Concert’, conducted by Mark Kadin, at the Ataturk Culture Center. The program for the concert, to be repeated at the Culture University on 10 November, consists of works by Gustav Mahler and Franz Lizst as well as Alexander Glazunov’s ‘In Memory of a Hero’, to be performed in Turkey for the first time. Antonin Dvorak’s violin concerto, conducted by Fedor Glushenko, on 5, 16 and 17 November; Brahms’ second piano concerto performed by soloist Gülsin Onay under conductor Rengim Gökmen on 6, 23 and 24 November; and Tchaikovsky’s 5th symphony as well as works by Saint-Saens and Cemal Reşit Rey on 7, 29 and 30 November are just some of the concert offerings for the month.
