A world congress in Istanbul
Held every other year, the World Congress of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) is convening this year for the 31st time on 15-16 March in a cooperation between the International Transporters’ Association and the Bus Drivers’ Federation of Turkey, spearheaded by the Union of Chambers and Stock Markets of Turkey.
Bringing together the leaders in road transport of goods and passengers, the congresses constitute an international platform where the sector’s current situation and future are shaped and where transport-related issues that could be reflected on government agendas are discussed. The 31st IRU World Congress aims to enable sector leaders in international road transport to share their experiences and expectations, to get information about innovations and different approaches to solving the problems they face, and to establish bilateral business relations. ‘The Revival of the Silk Road’ will be the theme of the public ministerial session to be attended by transport ministers and their representatives from around the world as part of the fair, whose participants will include 1,500 delegates from over 70 countries. The 31st ‘IRU World Congress-LOGIST’ will be held in parallel with the congress. LOGIST is a Road Transport, Intermodal Systems, Loading, Unloading, Stacking, Storing and Logistics Industry Fair. The congress, for which Turkish Airlines is transportation sponsor, will take place at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Center.
