Turkish Airlines at Berlin ITB Fair
The world’s largest tourism and travel fair, ITB Berlin was held for the 42nd time on 5-9 March.
Some 12,000 firms from 186 countries had stands at the fair, which was spread through 26 halls covering a total of 2558 square meters. With its new concept of regional tourism, Turkey’s stand was a focus of intense interest with both professionals and non-professional visitors. Turkey was also declared ITB 2010’s ‘guest country', a piece of good news that was shared with all participants in a protocol signed by Tourism and Culture Minister Ertuğrul Günay. This decision by Turkey, which will be a partner in all ITB’s activities and declarations during the year, was viewed as significant and strategic for promoting the country in Germany and throughout the world. Turkish Airlines had a 100 square-meter stand at the fair, in which 65 companies from Turkey took part. Turkish Airlines’ Board Chairman Candan Karlıtekin, Dr., and President Temel Kotil, P.h.D., held a press conference to brief listeners on the strong market position, increasing number of flights, and new projects of Turkish Airlines, which has participated in ITB Berlin since 1993. Visitors to the Airline’s stand were given souvenirs of Turkey, and the quiz program on offer for the duration ensured that a good time was had by all. ITB Berlin 2009 will be held 11-15 March.
