Dakar 2008 is starting!
Turkish team members Kemal Merkit and Kutlu Torunlar are competing in Dakar 2008, which will be run between Lisbon and Dakar 5-20 January.
Taking part in this grueling rally for the first time in 2007 in the motorcycle category, the team this year will be carrying the Turkish flag to Dakar for the second time. The 9,273-km-long course starts in Portugal and covers four continents with participation by 205 automobiles, 245 motorcycles, 20 ATV’s and 100 trucks from 50 different countries. Some 570 teams and hundreds of technical crews will be competing in the rally, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Starting out in Portugal, the rally drivers will go through Spain, Morocco and Mauritania in their drive to reach Senegal.
