Panoramic city stories
The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Istanbul Research Institute is opening a visual window on the city of emperors and sultans in an exhibition titled ‘Long Stories: Istanbul in the Panoramas of Dunn and Melling'.
Curated by Ekrem Işın with consultancy by M. Baha Tanman, the exhibition is a micro historical study that focuses on the city’s historical topography. It includes two original panoramas. Besides their artistic significance, panoramas, which are a Renaissance invention, form a basis for establishing historical fact by enabling us to ‘see the whole at one glance'. This fascinating exhibition, which could also be characterized as visual city stories from past to presence, is open free of charge through 3 August. Tel: (0212) 334 09 00
