Turkish Technic, Inc. opens its doors to the press
Turkish Airlines President, Temel Kotil, Ph.D., briefed members of the press during a recent press tour of Turkish Technic, Inc., and the Turkish Airlines Flight Training Center.
“Our passengers see only the show window,” said Kotil. “We wanted them to see how things are done behind the scenes and the kind of training our pilots and hostesses undergo.” Opening its doors to the press for the first time and taking them on a tour of all units, Turkish Technic, Inc. General Director İsmail Demir explained that Turkish Airlines, with its total 2,500 personnel, provides maintenance services to its own 102 aircraft as well as to several international airline companies. With three hangars totaling an enclosed area of 85,000 square meters, Turkish Technic, Inc. can provide maintenance services simultaneously to five wide-body and seven narrow-body aircraft, subjecting them to a detailed check of everything from the planes’ bodies and engines down to the tiniest screw. Dubbing Turkish Technic the Turkish Airlines ‘kitchen', airline president Kotil said it performed very serious work on behalf of airline safety. Kotil emphasized that the airlines wants to make ‘flying as safe as walking’, and is therefore opening its doors to the press and thereby to the public.
