Top mathematicians singled out
The first phase of a mathematics competition being staged for the sixth time by the OYAK Group took place simultaneously on 27 October 2007 in the provinces of Adana, Balıkesir, Batman, Bolu, Düzce, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kırıkkale, Manisa, Mardin, Ünye, Rize, Sakarya, Sivan Şanlıurfa, Tekirdağ and Zonguldak.
Answering questions posed by TÜBİTAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, the first place winners from 17 provinces competed among themselves on the Taşkışla Campus of Istanbul Technical University on 5 April to determine the champion school. This year’s champions were the students from Ordu Ünye’s Mehmet Refik Güven Anadolu Lycée with 33.6 points. Second place went to the Adana Science High School and third to the Hatay Tosçelik High School. Between 4 and 8 April, students from the top provincial high schools together with their families, team leader teachers and school principals were guests of the OYAK Group in Istanbul.
