Parallel Lands
Çınar Eslek will be at Pi Artworks Galeri 1 and 2 from 5 to 30 May with her exhibition, ‘Parallel Lands’. The artist earned a special citation in the exhibition, ‘The Painting and Sculpture Museum: 25 Artists of Our Day’, curated by Hasan Bülent Kahraman.
Çinar Eslek is a modern Turkish artist who, based on her own body, takes the body as an image and probes the possibilities of the physical body as a space, superimposing pictures of the two on photographs and moving images such as videos. In her exhibition, ‘Parallel Lands’, Eslek takes the relationship between the body and space as her point of departure and tries to free up her body and her own perception by fleeing as far as possible from the dominance of the eye. How independent of our eyes can our bodies be? Eslek invites us into the world of visual possibility in her paintings, photographs and videos produced in the framework of this intriguing question. Daily except Sundays, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tel: (0212) 293 71 03
