Olympic Town Trabzon
The 11th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) will be held in Trabzon, July 23-30, 2011.
A tourist attraction as well due to its rich nature and history, Trabzon, which hosted the Black Sea Games in 2007, is preparing this time for the European Youth Olympics.
The 11th European Youth Olympic Festival, EYOF for short, is going to be held in Trabzon, July 23-30, 2011. Upwards of four thousand athletes age 17 and under will compete July 2011 in Trabzon, which boasts more athletes per square meter than any other town in Turkey.
Organized by the European Olympic Committee (EOC) and called the European Youth Games, EYOF 2011 will be the first Olympic-level sports event to be held in Turkey.
This great event, based on the slogan, ‘Trabzon, from the Games to the Olympics’, is going to add to the city’s already existing sports facilities a 7,500-capacity coliseum, a swimming pool with a diving tower and a retractable roof, five tennis courts, two of them enclosed, a gymnasium and a track and field course.
Athletes age 17 and under can take part in EYOF 2011, competing in the categories of track and field, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, judo, swimming, cycling, basketball, volleyball and handball.
