‘Alev’s Ceramics’ In Vallauris
The town of Vallauris in southeastern France, where celebrated artists like Picasso, Chagall and Matisse have produced pottery, is now welcoming Turkish ceramic artist Alev Ebuzziya Siesbye. Featured in the exhibition, which runs through 8 March at the Ceramics Museum inside Vallauris Castle, are 57 high-temperature ceramics as well as 56 glass and porcelain designs the artist has produced for famous brand names. Mounted under the auspices of the Foreign and Culture Ministries of France and Turkey, with the cooperation of Culturesfrance and the Istanbul Foundation of Arts and Culture (IKSV), the exhibition, entitled ‘Alev’s Ceramics’, is part of Turkish Season in France. The works of Alev Ebuzziya Siesbye, a recipient of numerous awards given by art organizations and academies, are found in the collections of 36 museums, among them London’s Victoria and Albert and New York’s Cooper-Hewitt.
