Turkish Airlines marks 50 years in Rome
Turkish Airlines celebrated the 50th anniversary of its flights to Rome with a gala dinner for many high-level guests. A 50th birthday cake was baked specially for the occasion, which was accompanied by Turkish classical music. Present at the evening were Turkish Airlines’ Vice-President Orhan Sivrikaya, and Turkish Airlines’ Board Member and President of the Turkish Exporters Association (TİM) Mehmet Büyükekşi. Turkish Airlines made its first flight to Rome in 1959. Later if introduced flights to Milan 1972 and to Venice on March 31, 2006. Carrying around 450 passengers in 2009, the Italy-Turkey flights are continuing at 84 per week. This is slated to rise to 98 on March 1 with the addition of daily flights to Bologna.
