Turkısh Airlines Supports Medical Tourism
Turkish Airlines has rolled up its sleeves to boost Turkey’s share in medical tourism, a worldwide business currently worth 60 billion U.S. dollars and expected to hit the 100 billion dollar mark in 2012. A ‘Medical Tourism Package’ has been put together for this purpose. Under the terms of the package, patients coming from abroad who present a ‘Patient Admission Paper’ from a certified health care institution at ticketing and check-in have already begun to benefit from a series of discounts and conveniences. Passengers traveling to Turkey for medical treatment on Turkish Airlines from points of origin in the U.S. are given a 25 percent discount in the First/Business/Economy class cabins, as well as an additional baggage allowance and penalty-free rebooking. Up to two accompanying passengers enjoy the same benefits. A 20 percent discount is available to passengers traveling on flights originating outside the U.S. A meeting was held with representatives of the medical tourism sector in the VIP Lounge of Turkish Airlines Headquarters on December 7 to discuss what else needs to be done for the future of the sector.
